IES Blas Infante has held the so called Intercultural Days to celebrate the 30th of January, School Day of Non Violence and Peace. These days were opened on the 26th with a lecture about Human Rights from Mr Julio Anguita, former teacher at this school.

The final product of two months' work has been the exhibition The World in our Classrooms, which has been held in our school Assembly Hall until the 4th of February 2009. The exhibition was made up from the projects carried out by our students and teachers. The result has been twelve stands, seven about the countries of our immigrant students' origins and five about the countries in our Comenius project A World of Differences.
Besides, on the 30th three theatre plays about peace and intercultural understanding were performed by our youngest students (11-13 year-old). The first one called Postdata about bullying in Spanish, the second one was a short sketch about the New Chinese Year characters in English and the third one about the History of Religions of the countries in our Comenius project in Spanish. This play has been translated into English and given a new context and characters so that it can be performed in the next project meeting in October 09 in Sanliurfa, Turkey.

Sport activities were also carried out, among others a Chinese dragon was walked along our school yard and typical sports from the countries we were working on were played. The day ended with typical dishes tasting from the seven countries we have students from made by our students and their families.

The idea was developped with the collaborative work of our school projects: School Space for Peace and Comenius A World of Differences where more than 40 teachers are working. The exhibition has been visited, among others, by all our school students who have completed two quizzes about the exhibition contents. The quizzes took part in a draw to get some intercultural films DVD's.
