A World of Differences Comenius Multilateral Project 2008-10

Poems

Poems written at IES Blas Infante as we agreed on our Hungarian meeting in November. These poems deal with interculturality and immigration. Here follow the presentations of the poems and bilingual versions in the case of poems made in Spanish. Students from the five countries in the project will hold poetry workshops in our Uffenheim meeting from the 22nd to the 25th of April 09. We hope you like them.

Llantos de miseria,
voces de dolor,
gritos de amargura,
sueños que comienzan y terminan
en un viaje sin salida.

El viento aullaba,
lágrimas sobre la arena.
Ella yacía tumbada
soñando con tierras que anhela.
El sol despertaba
a la crueldad del día.
Sus sueños son fantasías,
está muerta en vida.
Sueños que comienzan y terminan
en un viaje sin salida.

ALUMNADO DE 4º ESO F
Cries of misery,
Voices of pain,
Shouts of bitterness,
Dreams that begin and end
In a trip with no destination.
The wind howled,
Tears upon the sand.
She was lying
Dreaming of lands she longs for.
The sun woke
To the cruelty of the day.
Her dreams are fantasies,
She is dead alive.
Dreams that begin and end
In a trip with no destination.

En los colores de las razas,

en los rincones del alma,

en culturas variadas

pensaba un día en calma.

Como por arte de magia,

vi ciudades lejanas,

personas que viven esclavas

siendo víctimas de su rabia.

Veía niños y guerras,

enfermedades, pobreza,

egoísmo de los militares,

mientras en nuestras ciudades

no existía la tristeza.

¿Cambiará esto algún día

o permanecerá la noche sombría?

Nosotros lo decidiremos,

nosotros lo cambiaremos.

              ALUMNADO DE 4º ESO C

In the colours of the races,

In the corners of the soul,

In different cultures

I was thinking calmly.

As if by magic,

I saw faraway cities,

People who live like slaves

Victims of their fury.

I saw children and wars.

Illnesses, poverty,

Selfishness in soldiers,

Meanwhile in our cities

There was no sadness.

Will this change one day

Or will the gloomy night remain?

We will decide,

We will change it.

Tengo poca imaginación

pero es suficiente

para conocer a mucha gente.

No tengo dinero,

pero sí lo bastante

para comprar ilusión.

En mi mundo habito yo,

pero me doy cuenta

De que solo no estoy;

Siento que hay alguien más,

gente a mi alrededor,

que comparte mi dolor,

que me comprende,

que me quiere

y me ayuda

sin pedir nada a cambio.

Porque hay personas que,

estés como estés

a tu lado caminan

día a día.

ALUMNADO DE 2º ESO D

I have little imagination

To know a lot of people.

But it is enough

I don’t have money,

But it is enough

To buy illusion.

In my world I live

But I am aware

I am not alone.

I feel there is somebody else.

People around me

That share my pain

That understand me

That love me

And help me

Without asking anything in exchange.

As there are people that

However you may be

Walk next to you

Day after day.
